The Institute

Our institute consists of nine research groups, working, among other topics, on quantum optics, quantum optoelectronics, trapped-ion quantum information, ultrafast dynamics, quantum photonics, ultrafast-laser physics, and optical nanomaterials.

The Institute for Quantum Electronics has high flexibility in its choice of topics it addresses when renewing professorships, making it possible to adapt its portfolio to the evolution of the research topics in quantum electronics. Another strength is the connection between fundamental science and technological applications. A number of successful companies have spun-off from IQE, the largest being Sensirion in 1998, which has today more than 500 employees.

Currently, the institute encompasses nine research groups.
